well, i made it home alive. even better than that, the trip was amazing. i dont have pictures developed yet, but when i do, ill put them online so you get an idea of what it was like there. they compiled all of the pictures took on digital cameras and theres about 1200 so, with any luck, ill be able to find one or two good ones.
to make very long stories short, we painted 3 churches, held 6 vacation bible schools, and went to a disabled childrens home 3 times. ill elaborate more when i get the pictures back.
i also got a job offer for next summer by a guy who is working with a medical missionary (of sorts) and opening an eye glass company. i kinda doubt that ill do it, but my mom (suprisingly) thought it sounded like a good idea. three months in a third world country that doesnt speak my language is a long time though. i think i just need to pray about it.
on a completely different note, dave suprised me and took me to the osu chimpanzee house because i love monkeys. he is friends with somebody who works there so we were able to go look at the monkeys and get a tour. we had so much fun....even if we were spit on by the alpha male while he was claiming his dominance.
what an awesome couple of weeks.
:::edit:::
we have had two classmates die within a week...Robby Parker and Jacob Baker. although i wasnt close with either, its still hard to think that people that i just graduated with have died. its easy to presume that it doesnt matter what we do right now because we have our whole lives ahead of us, but this goes to show us that our lives might not be as long as we all hope.
its important to do the right thing today.
also, monica ankrum had a four wheeler accident and is in the hospital with bleeding in her brain. i dont know if many of you know her, but she is going to be a junior at west...i roomed with her at church camps a couple of weeks ago. it would be awesome if you all would pray for her. |
